Chasing Cars Songsheet
Piano Sheet Music
This melodic rock song, written by Gary Lightbody who is the lead singer of Snow Patrol is the bands biggest selling single to date in both the UK and the US. A lot of the song’s recognition and popularity in the United States came from its feature on the medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
Lightbody openly admits writing the song in a unique way. It was after a binge on white wine in the garden of Chasing Cars producer, Jacknife Lee. He says it is the purest love song he has ever written. He told Rolling Stone Magazine, “There’s no knife-in-the-back twist. When I read these lyrics back, I was like, ‘Oh, that’s weird.’ All the other love songs I’ve written have a dark edge.”
In 2007, Chasing Cars was nominated for a Brit Award in the category of Best British Single but were beaten by Take That’s Patience. They also performed at the 2007 Brit Awards. In the same year, they were also nominated for a Grammy for the song in the category of Best Rock Song. Broadcast Music Incorporated’s annual music awards voted Chasing Cars to win their BMI Pop Award in both 2007 and 2008.
Producer of Chasing Cars, Jacknife Lee is a highly credited Irish mixer and producer. He’s worked with huge figures in the music industry, such as U2, Robbie Williams, Taylor Swift, Nicole Scherzinger and Kasabian.
